01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Touring Superleggera Veloce12 Aperta is an open-top grand tourer unveiled by Touring Superleggera at its headquarters in Rho, Milan, during the company’s centenary celebrations. The model is positioned between the Veloce12 Coupé and the more extreme Veloce12 Barchetta, combining long-distance touring use with open-air driving. The Veloce12 Aperta was conceived as a two-seat “Weekender”, with a focus on travel, luggage capacity and usability. Its body is defined by removable roof panels and a sculpted aluminium arch, creating a semi-open configuration while preserving the proportions of a grand tourer. The launch specification featured Alba White bodywork with a burgundy leather interior, a combination inspired by Touring Superleggera designs of the 1960s. Practicality was a central part of the project. The rear luggage area was developed with tailored compartments and dedicated travel accessories. Boot capacity is quoted at 327 litres with the roof closed and 233 litres with the roof open, making the car more usable for long-distance journeys than a traditional barchetta. The car measures 4,579 mm in length, 1,961 mm in width and 1,291 mm in height, with a 2,500 mm wheelbase. Fuel tank capacity is 114 litres. Power comes from a naturally aspirated 5.5-litre V12 engine, producing 503 hp at 7,000 rpm and 760 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, with drive sent to the rear wheels. Estimated performance figures include a top speed of 290 km/h and 0–100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The Veloce12 Aperta uses 19-inch wheels, with 255/35 ZR19 tyres at the front and 305/30 ZR19 tyres at the rear. The model represents a limited-series addition to Touring Superleggera’s modern coachbuilt range, combining analogue driving, bespoke craftsmanship and Italian grand touring design.
