THE ARCHIVE/EDITORIAL STANDARDS & CORRECTIONS

Editorial Standards & Corrections

Discover the history, purpose and research behind Carrozzieri Italiani.

Carrozzieri Italiani is an independent editorial project devoted to the documentation and interpretation of automotive history, with particular attention to coachbuilding, design and individual vehicles. Historical research is an ongoing process: records may be refined when new evidence becomes available.

01 / Sources and historical evidence

Our research draws on period publications, manufacturers’ records, coachbuilder archives, catalogues, photographs, chassis documentation, contemporary reporting, specialist literature and contributions from knowledgeable owners and researchers. Sources differ in reliability and completeness; conflicting evidence is evaluated in its historical context.

02 / Attribution and uncertainty

Design authorship, coachbuilding responsibility, production numbers, dates and individual vehicle identities should not be treated as interchangeable claims. Where evidence is incomplete or disputed, the editorial text should distinguish established facts from attributed, reported or provisional information. A vehicle’s coachbuilder is not automatically its designer, and a company executive’s involvement does not by itself establish personal design authorship.

03 / Vehicle records and technical data

Technical specifications, body styles, chassis numbers and production histories are compiled from the best available evidence. Period sources may disagree, and surviving vehicles may have undergone alterations or restorations. A record’s inclusion in the archive does not certify a vehicle’s authenticity, provenance, originality, legal title or market value.

04 / Editorial independence

Editorial judgements should be based on research rather than payment, advertising or commercial relationships. Sponsored material, affiliate relationships and other relevant commercial arrangements should be identified where applicable. Coverage of a vehicle, brand, event or collection does not imply endorsement.

05 / Photographs and archival material

Images are used to support historical documentation and editorial discussion. Their inclusion does not establish ownership of third-party rights. For copyright or image-related enquiries, please consult our Copyright & Image Rights page.

06 / Corrections and new discoveries

Readers, historians, owners, archives and clubs are invited to submit corrections or additional evidence. Please provide the relevant article or record URL, a description of the proposed correction and, where possible, supporting documentation. Submissions will be assessed editorially; a requested change is not automatically adopted without sufficient evidence.

07 / Updates and transparency

Records and articles may be updated as research progresses. Significant corrections may be acknowledged where editorially appropriate. Historical conclusions can change when stronger evidence emerges; the objective is accuracy, not the preservation of an earlier attribution.
