01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Ford Vignale TSX-6, a versatile and innovative concept vehicle, was built in cooperation with Ghia under the Vignale brand. This unique model was designed with adaptability in mind, offering the ability to transform into a station wagon, pick-up truck, or passenger car through interchangeable rear panel options. This flexibility made it an ideal vehicle for a variety of uses, appealing to a wide range of consumers. One of the standout features of the Ford Vignale TSX-6 was its raised roof, which could slide forward electrically to create an open-air vehicle. This feature not only enhanced the driving experience by allowing fresh air and sunlight into the cabin but also showcased advanced engineering and design. Additionally, the rear windows could flip up, facilitating easy loading and unloading of cargo, further emphasizing the vehicle’s practicality. Inside, the seating arrangement was both innovative and functional. The vehicle accommodated two people in the front and back, while three people could sit in the center. The raised roof design allowed the center and rear occupants to sit slightly higher than the driver and front passenger, ensuring a comfortable and spacious feel for all passengers. Moreover, the center and rear seats could fold down to create a bed, making the TSX-6 a versatile option for long trips or camping. The dashboard of the Ford Vignale TSX-6 was designed to be clean and modern. All digitally-styled analog instrumentation was placed on a cluster that protruded from the dashboard behind the steering wheel, providing the driver with easy access to important information while maintaining a sleek and uncluttered look. Overall, the Ford Vignale TSX-6 was a testament to innovative automotive design and engineering. Its ability to transform, combined with its practical features and stylish interior, made it a forward-thinking concept that highlighted the possibilities of vehicle versatility and adaptability.
