01 / THE STORY

History & context

The W Motors Lykan HyperSport is a limited-production mid-engine sports car manufactured under the W Motors brand. W Motors was founded in 2012 in Lebanon with the collaboration of Lebanese and Italian engineers from Studio Torino, however, the chassis and engine were all produced in Germany, body was built by Carrozzeria Viotti and the whole car was assembled in Italy.Production was restricted to seven units. The vehicle structure is made of a combination of aluminium and carbon-fibre materials. The car has a two-door, two-seat configuration with rear-wheel drive. The Lykan HyperSport is equipped with a 3.746-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine supplied by Ruf Automobile. The engine produces approximately 780 horsepower (582 kW) at 7,100 rpm and 960 Nm of torque at around 4,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through either a six-speed sequential manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The manufacturer claims an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h of approximately 2.8 seconds and a top speed close to 385 km/h. The chassis employs an independent suspension system, with a MacPherson strut setup at the front and a multi-link design with horizontal coil-over dampers at the rear. Braking is managed by ventilated carbon-ceramic discs with six-piston aluminium calipers. The overall length is approximately 4,495 mm, width 1,995 mm, and height 1,180 mm, with a wheelbase of about 2,625 mm. The kerb weight is estimated at 1,380 to 1,400 kg. The exterior design features angular body panels and an aerodynamic profile. The lighting system includes titanium LED headlamp housings that can be embedded with precious stones such as diamonds, rubies, or sapphires. The doors are of a dihedral type, opening upward and outward. The interior configuration is based on carbon-fibre trim components, leather upholstery, and a holographic display system with gesture control functions. The infotainment interface is integrated into the centre console. Safety systems include traction control, stability control, and anti-lock braking. The W Motors Lykan HyperSport represents a production run of seven vehicles manufactured for collectors and automotive institutions. The model’s specifications place it within the category of high-performance sports cars emphasizing output, limited production volume, and material technology.
