OSCA. Returns With The MT6, A Sporty SUV-Coupé Carrying The Name Of The Maserati Brothers

June 9, 2026

The name O.S.C.A. belongs to one of the most fascinating chapters of Italian motorsport history. Founded in 1947 by the Maserati brothers after their departure from the company that still carried their family name, Officine Specializzate Costruzione Automobili became known for small, refined, highly competitive sports and racing cars. Now, almost six decades after the original company disappeared, the badge returns to the road with a completely different mission: the new O.S.C.A. MT6, a compact SUV-coupé presented at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola.

The project is part of Historic Italian Brands, the industrial programme led by Massimo Di Risio, already responsible for the return of Itala with the Itala 35. With O.S.C.A., the operation becomes even more symbolic, because this was not simply an old Italian marque, but a name directly connected to Ernesto, Ettore and Bindo Maserati, and to a period when Italian engineering was still shaped as much by workshops and intuition as by large industrial structures.

The new MT6 is not a nostalgic barchetta, nor a retro-styled sports car. It is a modern crossover coupé, 4,515 mm long, 1,870 mm wide and 1,565 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,710 mm. This choice will certainly divide purists, but it also makes the return of O.S.C.A. a real industrial project rather than a limited collector’s exercise. Instead of reviving the past as a museum object, Historic Italian Brands is trying to use a historic name in a segment that can actually generate sales.

The design was developed by the Fabbrica Italia styling centre with the collaboration of Italdesign. The MT6 has a strong, muscular front end dominated by a large octagonal grille finished in carbon fibre, thin headlights and a sculpted bonnet. The side profile follows the now familiar SUV-coupé formula, with a high waistline, flush front door handles and rear handles integrated into the doors. At the rear, the car features four exhaust outlets, a central rear fog light set into the diffuser and a large O.S.C.A. script across the tailgate.

The visual effect is deliberately bold. This is not a discreet reinterpretation of the old O.S.C.A. spirit, but a contemporary attempt to give the revived brand an immediately recognisable identity. The 21-inch alloy wheels, signed by Mak and fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres, complete a package that clearly aims at a sporty premium positioning rather than at the lower end of the SUV market.

Inside, the MT6 continues in the same direction. The seats have been developed with Recaro and are upholstered in leather and Alcantara, materials also used on the dashboard and door panels. A more focused racing seat by Recaro will also be available on request, paired with Sabelt harnesses. The driver faces a three-spoke steering wheel and a double 10.25-inch display layout for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, with Apple CarPlay Ultra support.

The standard equipment is particularly rich. The MT6 includes two wireless charging pads, electrically adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof with electric blind, Level 2 driver assistance and automatic parking. The commercial strategy is simple: one fully equipped trim level, with customers choosing only the exterior colour and interior specification.

Under the skin, the new O.S.C.A. uses a platform supplied by Changan, the Chinese partner involved in the project. The engine is a 1.5-litre TGDI four-cylinder petrol unit, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Full final power and torque figures have not yet been officially detailed in every market communication, but the announced top speed is 190 km/h. The dynamic development, including suspension, dampers, braking system and engine management, has been carried out by an Italian team led by Roberto Fedeli, one of the most experienced engineers in the Italian performance car world.

The MT6 will arrive in dealerships in September 2026, with a starting price of €49,000 in its all-inclusive configuration. Before that, the new O.S.C.A. will appear at the 1000 Miglia, where two MT6 prototypes powered by BenZero fuel, a petrol blend obtained 65% from renewable sources, will accompany the historic O.S.C.A. MT4 Siluro. It is a clever symbolic gesture: the new model will make its public-road debut alongside one of the cars that made the original marque famous.

The MT6 will not remain alone for long. O.S.C.A. has already shown, still camouflaged, the next model in the programme: the MT8. Larger than the MT6 at around 4.87 metres, it will be another crossover coupé, powered by a 2.0 TGDI engine and available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. A supersport project has also been mentioned in the wider relaunch plan, suggesting that the brand’s return may eventually move closer to the territory expected from a name born on racing circuits.

For now, the O.S.C.A. MT6 is a curious and ambitious starting point. It does not try to imitate the small racing cars of the Maserati brothers, and perhaps that is exactly why it matters. Whether enthusiasts accept the idea of an O.S.C.A. SUV-coupé remains to be seen, but the return of the badge is no longer just a romantic rumour. It is now a real car, with a price, a launch date and an industrial plan behind it.
