Morgan completes production of final Midsummer commission

March 16, 2026

Morgan Motor Company has completed the 50th and final example of the Morgan Midsummer, closing the production run of the limited-series barchetta developed in collaboration with Pininfarina. The last car was finished at Morgan’s historic Pickersleigh Road factory in Malvern, United Kingdom, marking the end of a project launched to celebrate the marque’s coachbuilding tradition.

First unveiled in 2024, the Midsummer was conceived as a special project exploring the meeting point between Morgan’s classic proportions and contemporary Italian design interpretation. The open-top barchetta retained the recognizable Morgan silhouette while introducing new surfacing and construction techniques developed jointly with Pininfarina.

Production of the model began in July 2024, with each of the 50 cars commissioned individually through a bespoke specification process. Morgan customers worked directly with the company’s design team through multiple one-to-one consultations, allowing a wide range of personalized features. These bespoke elements ranged from custom stitch patterns and exclusive paint colours to bespoke marquetry veneers, pinstriped finishes, and specially designed instrument dials.

Beyond the cars themselves, the Midsummer program served as an internal development platform for the British manufacturer. The model required a higher number of hand-formed components and more complex construction processes than Morgan’s core production vehicles. This demanded close collaboration between the design, engineering, and manufacturing teams at the Pickersleigh Road facility.

Matthew Hole, Managing Director of Morgan Motor Company, described the project as both a celebration of heritage and a catalyst for innovation. “What began as a celebration of our coachbuilding heritage has also challenged our teams to explore new levels of craftsmanship, design, and engineering,” he said, adding that the project introduced Morgan to new customers around the world.

Paul Hand, Chief Operating Officer, emphasized the impact on the company’s production expertise, noting that the program strengthened Morgan’s manufacturing capabilities and highlighted the craftsmanship central to the brand.

One of the final Midsummer examples will remain on display in Malvern as a permanent reference for the project. Meanwhile, production continues across Morgan’s current lineup, including the Supersport, Plus Four, and Super 3 models, all built at the Pickersleigh Road factory.
