01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Lancia Flaminia 3C Speciale is a truly unique and elegant coupé, first unveiled by Pininfarina at the 1963 Turin Motor Show. Built as a one-off, this exceptional vehicle was developed on the shortened chassis of the Lancia Flaminia and equipped with a powerful 2.8-liter V6 engine featuring a triple carburetor. This combination provided both impressive performance and refined drivability, making it a standout creation. Designed by the renowned Tom Tjaarda, the Flaminia 3C Speciale introduced styling elements that would later influence models like the Fiat 124 Spider. With its sleek proportions, flowing lines, and exquisite details, the car perfectly embodies Pininfarina’s signature elegance and craftsmanship. Over the years, the vehicle underwent several modifications. Originally finished in a distinct color, it was later repainted and refined in certain details. At one point, it became the personal car of Battista Pininfarina himself, a testament to its significance. During his ownership, the rear lights were replaced with those from a Lancia Flavia, as the original units were no longer functional. Like many rare classics, this car had an adventurous journey, changing hands several times across different continents. It spent time in the United States, Japan, and Canada before ultimately making its way back to Italy. During its meticulous restoration, great care was taken to return the rear section to its original design, preserving its historical integrity. Today, the Lancia Flaminia 3C Speciale is part of the esteemed Lopresto Collection, one of the most celebrated gatherings of rare Italian automobiles. This stunning coupé remains a shining example of Pininfarina’s design brilliance and a tribute to the golden age of Italian automotive craftsmanship.
