01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Lancia Dilambda Cabriolet-Spider 4 posti, a masterpiece of automotive elegance by Stabilimenti Farina, took center stage at the 2nd Concorso Internazionale d’Eleganza a Como, marking a pivotal moment in automotive history. Designed by the renowned Mario Revelli di Beaumont, this Dilambda not only highlighted Lancia’s engineering expertise but also secured the prestigious 1st Prize, the Coppa d’Oro. The event, the second edition of the Villa d’Este Concours, unfolded at Como, Italy, where the finest examples of automotive craftsmanship were displayed. Among them, the Lancia Dilambda stood out as the embodiment of luxury and artistic design. It was driven by Count Leonardo di Villacortese, a friend of Mr. Minetti, whose presence behind the wheel only amplified the car’s aura of refined opulence. Stabilimenti Farina, the celebrated coachbuilder, played a crucial role in realizing Mario Revelli di Beaumont’s vision, with their collaborative efforts in 1928 resulting in this timeless creation. To commemorate its triumph, Stabilimenti Farina purchased a full-page advertisement in Auto Italiana magazine to showcase their victory. The Dilambda’s design, a tribute to Revelli di Beaumont’s creative brilliance, featured sweeping lines and exquisite details that encapsulated luxury and sophistication. This victory at the Concorso d’Eleganza not only celebrated the car’s aesthetic beauty but also recognized its technical excellence. The Lancia Dilambda Cabriolet-Spider success with the Coppa d’Oro win cemented its legacy in the history of classic car competitions, serving as a symbol of the harmonious union of design and performance that characterized the Golden Age of automotive elegance.
