01 / THE STORY
History & context
The Italdesign Asso di Picche In Movimento, translating to “In Motion” in Italian, represents a anniversary show-car that seamlessly brings the original model of the Aces series into the contemporary era while preserving its timeless essence and simplistic design. This 2+2 electric coupé, featuring three doors without a center pillar, is built on a next-generation platform, aligning with current design principles focused on safety and electrification. Measuring 4662 mm in length, 1230 mm in height, and 1945 mm in width, the Asso di Picche In Movimento boasts a striking exterior. Its aluminum body and polycarbonate windows create a monolithic and seamless aerodynamic structure, with a continuous outline wrapping around the passenger compartment, unifying the roof, front end, and rear end. A unique top view emphasizes the visual continuity between the windshield, roof, and rear window, creating a transparent expanse for a bright interior. The Italdesign Asso di Picche In Movimento introduces innovative features such as concealed cameras replacing traditional side rear-view mirrors and a roof segment treated as a polarized lens, filtering out 100% of UVA rays. The front luggage compartment lid pays homage to the original model’s air intake, now transformed into a contemporary functional element housing the charging port. The two generously sized classic doors utilize a double-hinged mechanism, facilitating smooth sliding and rotation for easier access. The rear of the car incorporates an active spoiler, reflector, and centrally located extractor to enhance aerodynamics. The front and rear lights feature fresh interpretations of the Italdesign logo, with the front showcasing a distinctive illuminated symbol through DRL technology. Internally, the 2+2 compartment maintains comfort for the front passengers, while the rear prioritizes aerodynamics. The dashboard preserves the iconic cylindrical components, now transformed into a suspended ultra-thin screen serving as an interface with built-in scent synthesizer and audio functions. The steering wheel, with a simple rectangular design and rounded corners, offers functional space and increased visibility. The door panels feature leather belts, reminiscent of the original model, now functioning as structural components and handles for a purposeful and elegant touch to the interior. Italdesign Asso di Picche In Movimento embodies a perfect blend of nostalgia, innovation, and contemporary design, showcasing Italdesign’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive excellence.
