Honda NSX Tribute by Italdesign

The Honda NSX Tribute by Italdesign is a design project officially announced in 2024 and unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026. The initiative has been presented as a formal collaboration between Honda and Italdesign and is framed as a homage to the first-generation NSX introduced in 1990, rather than as a confirmed production program. To date, information released by the partners is limited to official teasers showing the Honda and NSX badges alongside the Italdesign logo. No full exterior images, interior views, or technical specifications have been disclosed. The project is intended as a limited-series exercise. The absence of homologation references or production timelines points toward a conceptual role focused on design interpretation rather than immediate industrial application. The “Tribute” designation establishes a direct historical connection to the original NSX, a model that redefined Honda’s performance image through its mid-engine layout, aluminum-intensive construction, and emphasis on usability. Italdesign’s involvement aligns with the studio’s long-standing practice of reinterpreting established automotive icons through external design studies, emphasizing proportion, surface logic, and brand DNA rather than mechanical reinvention. The Italdesign project is not isolated within the current NSX discourse. Recently, a separate NSX tribute was unveiled by Pininfarina, commissioned by JAS Motorsport and presented as the JAS Tensei. That study also revisits the NSX legacy from a European design perspective, underscoring renewed interest in the model’s historical significance and design potential. While Honda has confirmed that a future NSX successor is planned for later in the decade within an electrification strategy, no formal link has been established between that program and either tribute project.
