01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Ferrari 410 Speciale Berlinetta, chassis number 0594CM, was built in 1955 and fitted with a 4962 cc V12 engine producing 340 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. The engine used a single overhead camshaft, one spark plug per cylinder, dual magnetos, and a dry sump lubrication system. Fuel delivery was managed through three Weber 46 DCF-3 carburetors. Power was transmitted via a rear-mounted five-speed gearbox with synchromesh. The bodywork was executed by Scaglietti. The car was originally finished in ivory with a blue interior. This example was delivered new to Michel Paul-Cavallier, a director of SEFAC and president of Pont-à-Mousson. In 1964, the vehicle was acquired by Hugues Hazard, a French race driver and BMW dealer. It was repainted red and entered in the 1965 Course de Côte de Belleau with the race number 95. Later that year, ownership passed to Marc Nicolosi and then to Pierre Bardinon, a private collector based in Aubusson, France. The car remained in his collection for several decades. 0594CM was displayed at various exhibitions, including the Cartier “Hommage à Ferrari” in 1987 and Retromobile in 1996. In 2001, the car was purchased by Dutch collector John Bosch for $2 million. Restoration was carried out by Terry Hoyle, returning the car to its original ivory and blue configuration. It was entered in the 2002 Mille Miglia and appeared at the Modena Motorsport Meeting the same year. Later acquired by Jonathan Hunt in the United Kingdom, the car was exhibited at the 2009 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. In 2012, it was offered at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction and sold for $8.25 million. Chassis 0594CM is one of a limited number of 410 Speciale Berlinettas built and retains its original drivetrain and body configuration.
