01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Y10 Style was a special trim package created by Carrozzeria Coriasco S.p.A., based in Coriasco, near Turin. Rather than being a separate model, it was an upgraded specification available across the Y10 range, including the Fire, Fire LX, GT i.e., and 4WD i.e. versions. It gave the small Lancia/Autobianchi city car a more refined and personalised character, in line with the Italian tradition of coachbuilders improving production cars through detail, materials, and presentation. Coriasco’s work focused on both the interior and exterior. Inside, the Y10 Style received a richer cabin treatment than the standard car. The seats, door panels, and gear lever gaiter could be trimmed in either leather or velvet, depending on the chosen configuration. Fabric floor mats were added, while the dashboard and the upper sections of the door panels were covered in Alcantara, giving the cabin a much softer and more upmarket feel. A Nardi steering wheel and a wooden gear knob completed the interior, adding a classic Italian luxury touch to a compact modern hatchback. Externally, the Y10 Style was made more distinctive through subtle colour and trim changes. The lower parts of the bumpers, the grille, the side mirrors, and the rear tailgate were painted in body colour. Coriasco also fitted specific lightweight alloy-style wheel covers and a side adhesive stripe carrying the “Style” script. These changes did not alter the basic form of the Y10, but they made it look more complete, elegant, and carefully finished. The standard equipment was also generous for the period. It included front electric windows, heat-insulating glass, halogen headlights, a digital clock, a height-adjustable steering wheel, and radio preparation. The Y10 Style is significant because it shows how Coriasco adapted its coachbuilding experience to a small production car, creating a more exclusive version through craftsmanship, trim quality, and discreet visual refinement rather than major body modifications.
