01 / THE STORY
History & context
The Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM Boano, originally constructed for Mr. Perón, the ex-President of Argentina, was a notable sports car of its time. Built by Carrozzeria Boano and built on a Berlinetta Colli chassis, it boasted impressive performance capabilities. It is reported that Alfa Romeo’s renowned driver, Sanesi, achieved speeds well over 150 mph during test runs at Monza, showcasing the car’s high-speed potential. However, the car met with an unfortunate incident when it was involved in a crash in Buenos Aires. As a result of the damage, it underwent a rebuild with a replica body by Berlinetta Colli. On September 16, 1955, Perón was ousted from office during the Revolución Libertadora and subsequently fled to Paraguay. The new government confiscated all his belongings, including his cars, which were later auctioned off. The 6C 3000 CM was among his collection, alongside other notable vehicles such as a Ghia-bodied Ferrari 212 Inter (#0191EL), an Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Touring, and a Giulietta Sprint. These cars, including the Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM Boano, represent a significant part of automotive history tied to political events in Argentina during the mid-20th century, reflecting both their prestigious engineering and their association with prominent historical figures.
