Italdesign Unveils EVX Proportion Study in Holographic Form

Moncalieri, September 10, 2025 – Italdesign has presented its latest research project, the EVX Proportion Study 3D, in an innovative holographic display at the Volkswagen Group booth during the IAA Mobility in Munich (Hall B1, Stand E102).

The study highlights the flexibility and scalability of the Volkswagen Group’s MEB (Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten) modular electric platform, serving as the foundation for Italdesign’s design exploration. Commissioned by Volkswagen Platform Business, EVX investigates alternative volumes and proportions compared to existing Volkswagen models, with a focus on the new generation of compact urban EVs based on the MEB+ architecture with front-wheel drive.

Although not intended for production and not linked to any specific OEM, Italdesign has imagined a compact 2+2 coupé with three doors, measuring 4.23 meters in length, 1.82 meters in width, and 1.49 meters in height, with a 2.6-meter wheelbase. True to Italdesign’s tradition, the study is supported by a preliminary feasibility analysis, ensuring that the design proposals remain grounded in practical and achievable solutions.

A key element of the EVX project is demonstrating how the MEB platform can be adapted for external OEMs beyond the Volkswagen Group, meeting diverse market requirements worldwide.

EVX also showcases Italdesign’s advanced CAS modeling team, whose capabilities allow conceptual visions to be translated into refined 3D forms within tight development timelines.

With EVX, Italdesign reinforces its role as a center of excellence for design and engineering within the Volkswagen Group and as a strategic bridge to external OEMs, promoting the application of proprietary technologies across a wide range of contexts.
