THE STORY

Overview

Synthesis Design is a Turin design studio founded in 1988 by Carlo and Giorgio Gaino. Working across automotive, nautical and product design, it has developed projects for manufacturers including Fiat, Maserati, De Tomaso, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and others. Its automotive portfolio includes work associated with the Maserati Barchetta, De Tomaso Guarà and Lancia ECV II.

The studio’s practice extends beyond vehicle styling to industrial products and design strategy. A published company profile for Irsap identifies both Gaino brothers as founding partners and describes the firm’s cross-disciplinary work. The 1988 date refers to the studio’s origins, rather than to any later company-registration milestone.
