Capricorn 01 Zagato Unveiled: 900+ PS, V8, Manual, Carbon Fibre Hypercar

October 10, 2025

The Capricorn 01 Zagato has been officially unveiled, marking the first hypercar created by Germany’s Capricorn Group and the first ever to feature a body designed by Zagato.

The Capricorn 01 Zagato is a mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive hypercar powered by a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 producing over 900 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed CIMA dogleg manual transmission, emphasizing pure mechanical engagement. The car weighs under 1,200 kg, thanks to a full carbon fibre monocoque and body, giving it a power-to-weight ratio below 1.3 kg per PS.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes less than three seconds, with a top speed of 360 km/h. Production will be limited to 19 units, priced at €2.95 million (before tax), and sold exclusively through Louyet Group.

A Collaboration Between Capricorn and Zagato

The project brings together German engineering and Italian design. Capricorn, founded in 1933 and known for its motorsport technology in Formula 1, WEC, and WRC, provides the engineering and construction. Zagato, the Milan-based design house behind some of the most iconic cars for Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Maserati, delivers the exterior design.

The collaboration between Capricorn CEO Robertino Wild and Zagato President Andrea Zagato reflects a shared vision: a driver-focused analog hypercar that prioritizes lightweight engineering and timeless design over digital excess.

Design, Aerodynamics, and Cabin

Chief designer Norihiko Harada gave the Capricorn 01 Zagato its distinctive shape. The body features integrated aerodynamic channels and underfloor diffusers that generate downforce without large wings. Gullwing doors and minimalist surfacing give the car a sculptural, technical look.

Inside, the cockpit is stripped of distractions. The dashboard features three analog gauges, while all controls are mechanical and machined from titanium or aluminium. The fixed seats are part of the carbon safety cell, with adjustable pedals, steering column, and gear lever for an ideal driving position.

Handbuilt in Germany

Every Capricorn 01 Zagato will be handbuilt in Düsseldorf, starting in 2026. The hypercar will be homologated for the EU, UK, Switzerland, Japan, Mexico, Canada, and the Middle East. Each car includes a two-year warranty and a four-year service plan, handled exclusively by Capricorn.

The company plans to expand its Nürburgring facilities and continue developing a new line of Capricorn-branded cars. The Capricorn 01 Zagato represents not only a showcase of the brand’s technical ability but also the beginning of a new chapter in German high-performance engineering.
