Bertone Expands Its Roquebrune-sur-Argens Atelier

August 3, 2026

Bertone has completed a major expansion of its Atelier in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, southern France, increasing the facility’s role within the company’s design, engineering and limited-production operations.

The French site already housed Bertone’s Centro Stile and was used for client configuration appointments, private vehicle presentations and events aimed at collectors. With the latest expansion, it will take on a broader and more practical role in the development and completion of the company’s cars.

Alongside the design studios and customer-facing spaces, the Atelier now includes a dedicated workshop for vehicle development and assembly. Separate areas have also been created for coachbuilding, body preparation, paintwork and final finishing.

A new upholstery and trimming department will allow Bertone to complete more interior work directly at the site, including the production of bespoke cabins specified by individual clients.

The investment reflects the continued growth of Bertone’s limited-series programme. That expansion has gained further momentum following the presentation of the new Runabout, a compact sports car inspired by Marcello Gandini’s 1969 Autobianchi A112 Runabout concept.

Roquebrune-sur-Argens will operate alongside Bertone’s existing activities and production capabilities in Italy rather than replacing them. The expanded Atelier is intended to connect the company’s design, personalisation and coachbuilding operations more closely, allowing customers to follow a greater part of the creation process within a single location.

For Bertone, the development also marks another step in the reconstruction of the company as a functioning low-volume manufacturer rather than simply a revived design name.

The modern Bertone operation has increasingly concentrated on highly individual sports cars and limited-production projects, combining historic references with contemporary engineering. Expanding the French Atelier gives the company additional capacity to develop, finish and present those vehicles as its portfolio grows.
