i2C SUV Concept

The i2C SUV concept is Indonesia’s first indigenous electric passenger vehicle, developed as a strategic national project with design by Italdesign. Commissioned by the Indonesian government, the i2C is intended to serve as a cultural ambassador and a technological milestone, symbolizing the country’s commitment to sustainable mobility while honoring its rich heritage. The vehicle is a full-electric SUV with a 6 to 7-seat configuration, designed on an existing electric platform and tailored for institutional use, with plans to scale into broader commercial production in the future. The concept combines bold, functional styling with cultural depth. Its exterior features strong, sculpted lines and robust proportions, conveying an adventurous character suited to the diverse Indonesian landscape. The design integrates national symbols such as the Garuda—representing strength and wisdom—and traditional batik patterns, reinterpreted in a modern visual language to reflect Indonesia’s multicultural identity. The interior offers a premium experience with a minimalist, purposeful layout. Clean lines, functional surfaces, and carefully chosen details create a refined and spacious environment. The cabin incorporates elements inspired by Indonesian craftsmanship, delivering both comfort and cultural resonance in a contemporary context. The i2C was unveiled as a full-scale clay model at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025, showcasing Italdesign’s expertise in combining industrial design with local storytelling. The collaboration between Italdesign and a team of Indonesian engineers marks a significant step in Indonesia’s effort to localize vehicle production and build national design capabilities. The i2C is envisioned not only as a means of transport but as a symbol of unity, innovation, and national pride. With further development expected, the i2C stands as a foundation for future electric vehicle production that aligns with the environmental goals and cultural values of Indonesia.
