01 / THE STORY
History & context
The GFG Style Vision 2030 was developed as a direct response to Saudi Arabia’s national Vision 2030 program, which promotes economic diversification and accelerated investment in sustainable technologies. Conceived by GFG Style under the direction of Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro, the project was commissioned with the explicit requirement of adapting to the geographic and infrastructural conditions of the region, characterized by extensive high-speed road networks as well as desert environments with dunes and uneven terrain. The vehicle is configured as a two-seat, four-wheel-drive electric grand tourer with all-terrain capability. From the earliest design phase, wheel size and suspension architecture dictated the overall proportions. The concept adopts large 22-inch wheels combined with an electronically controlled suspension system, allowing significant variation in ride height depending on surface conditions. This technical requirement directly shaped the bodywork, particularly the sculptural mudguards, which visually define the car and integrate movable aerodynamic elements. As the suspension rises or lowers, sections of the wheel-arch structures shift vertically, improving airflow management and reducing drag. The Vision 2030’s body construction emphasizes material contrast. A carbon-fibre central structure is paired with anodized aluminium side panels, producing a two-tone visual effect while reducing weight. The windshield features a mirror-finish treatment to limit heat and glare, while maintaining a continuous glass band across the cabin. A distinctive lighting concept, described as “shadow lights,” exploits shaded surfaces created by the aerodynamic elements, generating reflected light effects at dusk and night. Stylistic references to Saudi Arabia appear in both color and form. Green bodywork recalls the national flag, while the front grille incorporates functional openings for battery cooling shaped to evoke Arabic calligraphy. A horizontal chrome bar bearing the GFG Style emblem divides the grille from the carbon bonnet, establishing a recurring brand motif. At the rear, a large carbon spoiler integrates six illuminated fins that serve both aerodynamic and lighting functions. The interior was conceived for long-distance travel in extreme climates. Seats offer heating or cooling functions, and the cabin is trimmed with advanced materials, including elastic technical fabric and leather with a carbon-fibre texture. Access is via a combined door-and-roof butterfly mechanism, while removable roof panels allow a targa-style configuration. The digital interface comprises six screens managing instrumentation, mirrors, infotainment, and suspension settings. The Vision 2030 prototype was presented in running condition, conceived as a customizable electric vehicle aligned with contemporary grand touring expectations.
