THE STORY

Overview

Borghi was a coachbuilding workshop associated with Bologna and recorded in specialist directories under the name Fratelli Borghi. Its documented work includes a one-off Lancia Augusta Spider of 1936. A historical vehicle description published for the Circuito Storico Santa Marinella attributes the car’s shortened chassis, removal of the rear seats and modified body structure to Borghi; it credits the engine preparation separately to Tano Sartori.

The Augusta Spider illustrates the workshop’s involvement in lightweight sporting coachwork during the interwar years. The 1936 date identifies the surviving vehicle, not a confirmed year of establishment for Borghi. The workshop’s foundation, full production history and the extent of the brothers’ respective roles still require further research.
