01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Fiat 125 Fastback Savio is another fascinating example of the creativity of the small Turin-based atelier. Presented as a one-off at the Turin Motor Show, this car was based on the Fiat 125 and featured a 2+2 seating configuration, ideal for those seeking a sporty yet practical coupé. The design deviated significantly from the trends of its time. While many manufacturers were adopting square headlights, considered more modern, Savio chose to retain dual round headlights. This decision gave the car a classic and refined look, aligning with the elegant character of the Fiat 125. At the rear, however, the car preserved some continuity with the original sedan by retaining the stock taillights. This detail suggests either a pragmatic choice or an intention to highlight the connection to the base model, despite the transformation into a fastback. The Fiat 125 Fastback Savio fits into the tradition of unique and experimental creations that defined the golden age of Italian coachbuilding. Although it never entered series production, this car stands as a tangible example of Savio’s ability to reinterpret Fiat models with a distinctive and original approach.
