01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Fiat Sing, a concept car made by Pininfarina and based on the Fiat Bravo chassis, made a significant impression at the 1996 Turin Auto Show, a landmark event celebrated for the introduction of the Fiat Bravo and Brava. The Fiat Sing was designed with the aim of combining the advantages of a compact mono-box configuration with a sporty and aggressive road presence, distinguishing it from its off-road-oriented counterpart, the Fiat Song. Among the 25 concept cars unveiled at the show, 17 were based on new Fiat models, highlighting the innovative spirit and versatility of the brand. Out of these 17, ten were ‘official’ concept cars, sponsored by Fiat and displayed as a cohesive group, while the remaining seven were ‘unofficial,’ showcasing a broader range of creative explorations on the Fiat platforms. The Fiat Sing by Pininfarina stood out with its sleek, dynamic design and performance-oriented features. It featured a lower stance, aerodynamic lines, and a bold front fascia, emphasizing its sporty character. The concept car was equipped with performance-enhancing elements such as a tuned suspension system, low-profile tires, and lightweight materials, all aimed at delivering an exhilarating driving experience. Inside, the Fiat Sing offered a driver-focused cabin with sporty accents and advanced technology. High-quality materials and ergonomic design provided both comfort and support, enhancing the overall driving experience. The interior also featured intuitive controls and a state-of-the-art infotainment system, reflecting Pininfarina’s commitment to blending style with functionality. The Fiat Sing concept car by Pininfarina demonstrated the adaptability of the Fiat Bravo chassis for a more spirited and performance-oriented application. Its debut at the 1996 Turin Auto Show showcased Fiat’s commitment to innovation and Pininfarina’s ability to infuse contemporary design with sporty elegance. The Fiat Sing remains a notable example of how concept cars can push the boundaries of automotive design and performance.
