THE STORY

Overview

Carrozzeria Mariani of Novara traces its family origins to Pietro Mariani, documented as a sheet-metal worker in a municipal identification document dated 30 June 1927. According to the company’s own history, the automobile body-repair business was formally developed in the years after the Second World War by Arturo Mariani. After his death in 1952, Annunziata continued the family enterprise.

Costantino Mariani subsequently introduced modern body-repair equipment, including a spray booth and a Celette chassis-alignment system; the workshop moved to Corso Vercelli in 1968. The 1927 date documents Pietro Mariani’s trade and the family’s origins, not the legal incorporation of the later automobile business. No individual historic coachbuilt vehicle has yet been securely attributed to this workshop in the source reviewed, and its classification in the coachbuilder register requires further examination.
