THE STORY

Overview

Carrozzeria Albanesi was a coachbuilding workshop based in Brescia, Italy, documented through its work on the Lancia Ardea 800 Promiscuetta of 1951. A surviving fourth-series Ardea, described in the Aste Bolaffi auction catalogue, was converted from a light commercial vehicle into a glazed passenger-and-load-carrying body by Albanesi. This version combined rear side windows, a folding rear seat and a wooden loading platform, allowing the car to serve both family and commercial purposes.

The 1951 Ardea establishes documented activity for Albanesi by that year, but should not be taken as proof of the company’s foundation date. Further research is needed to establish the workshop’s origins, the full extent of its production and its later history.
