01 / THE STORY

History & context

The Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Berlina Farina, introduced in the 1930s, is a distinguished model that embodies the elegance and engineering excellence of its era. Designed under the guidance of the esteemed Ing. Vittorio Jano, the 6C 2300 B was launched in 1935, featuring a modernized chassis that incorporated independent front suspension and swing-axle rear suspension. This innovative design contributed to improved handling and ride comfort, characteristics that would set the standard for future luxury vehicles. Approximately 86 units of the first-series 6C 2300B were produced before the onset of World War II, making it a rare find for collectors today. This particular specimen showcases an exquisite four-door sports saloon coachwork by Stabilimenti Farina, renowned for its craftsmanship and attention to detail. The design of the car is striking, with flowing lines and an elegant silhouette that exude sophistication and timeless appeal. The vehicle’s journey through time saw it acquired by Fuad Majzub, a passionate British-based Iranian collector, during the 1970s and 1980s. Majzub, known for his keen eye for original and unique motorcars, valued this Alfa Romeo for its authenticity and bespoke Farina body. In 1991, the car was featured in the Brooks Majzub Milford Farm sale, where the current owner was drawn to its originality. As the owner reflects, “Originality was always a key issue for me and this was the main attraction—reinforced by the fact it had a bespoke body by Farina.” The Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Berlina Farina not only represents a significant chapter in automotive history but also reflects the luxurious and innovative spirit of Italian design during the interwar period. Today, it stands as a prized collector’s item, cherished for its heritage, craftsmanship, and the legacy of engineering excellence that Alfa Romeo continues to uphold. Photo courtesy of Bonhams.
